Centenary Classic Car Show

Saturday 8th June was a feast for the eyes. During the morning, Children and staff joined numerous schools, club and societies in the Carnival Procession which snaked its way through Brackley. Following on from this, the Manor Road morphed into a stream of classic cars.

Over 40 vehicles brought our Centenary Classic Car Show to life, with alumni, parents, former parents and community members driving their wonderful cars onto the 1st XV rugby pitch. To name a few of the wonderful cars on show, Housian Mark Finburgh brought his 1955 AC Bristol and his brother Aubrey Finburgh brought his 1953 Jaguar C-Type, Housian Robert Martin brought his 1948 Bentley Mark VI, Housian Mark Edmunds brought his 1955 Series I Land Rover and the Craig family brought their Series 2 Land Rover, former parent John Blayney brought his 69 year old Bentley MK V1, former parent Ashok Patel brought his Jaguar E-Type, our Chair of Governors Richard Greaves brought his Jaguar MK2, Governor Bob Heygate brought his 1959 Triumph TR4, parent Tanya Dawes brought her 1932 Hotchkiss, IT Technician Simon Robinson brought his 1980 Mini Marco and parent Edward Guinness brought his  Rolls Royce Silver Wraith.

Curiosities included Tanks-a lot’s Abbot Self-Propelled Gun, Trinders Funeral Directors’ Nissan Leaf Eco Hearse, our very own Soap Box Derby entry the Winchester Whizzer 100, Stefan Strahnz’s VW Kubel Wagen and Sport Pesa’s Racing Point F1 car kindly organised by parent Sarah Smith.

The Vintage Food Van Village comprised two 1970s Citroen HV Vans belonging to Pollacks’ Fish and Chips and the Oxford Foodies, as well as Lola’s Vintage Ice Cream van. Alison Hooker of Helen & Douglas House ran a fantastic arts and crafts tent for the children, raising money for both her charity and Katharine House Hospice, and children and parents ran our very own Le Cafe.  Huge thanks to Martin Roberts and Emma McGowan who master-minded the event and made it happen. We look forward to re-running the event in May 2020!
