Grand Final of the Music Competition

Grand Final of the Music Competition

On Thursday 14th March, Winchester House hosted the final of the Music Competition featuring performances from the winners of each of the categories in the first-round heats.

Performances ranged from a heart-felt guitar and vocal rendition of 'Chasing Cars' by F Peppiatt to an incredibly powerful performance of 'Gabriel's Oboe' by E von Furstenberg on the saxophone. The competition final could not have been a more varied programme with outstanding instrumental and vocal performances throughout, showing the full spectrum of musical talent at Winchester House. It was incredibly challenging for the adjudicator to choose the winners, as every performance left the audience on the edge of their seat.

Many thanks to Lindsey Lea-James from Tudor Hall who adjudicated and gave feedback in such a thoughtful and appropriate way. The winner of the evening was O Voshchinskiy for his stunning performance of Sons de Carilhões by João Pernambuco and with J Pearson-Gee and M Woolley receiving the Holbech Cup for Outstanding Potential for their beautiful, haunting and soulful rendition of 'Shallow' by Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper.

The evening was such a success and our thanks go to Mr Price for accompanying the children and putting together such a fantastic concert.
