It was wonderful to welcome over 500 former pupils and their families to an amazing weekend of festivities to celebrate former Headmaster, Richard Speight’s 80th Birthday.

It is testimony to Richard’s popularity as Headmaster that so many old boys and girls and former staff made the trip back to Winchester House.

The evening started with guests invited to an open tour of the school, where they were able to visit the old dorms and classrooms to reminisce.

Drinks were served on the lawn in the evening sunshine with exquisite canapes provided by old girl Amber Tilleard and a stunning performance by professional singer and old girl Cecelia Warren –Thomas.  Richard was presented with a wonderful comic sketch of his time at Winchester House by acclaimed cartoonist and illustrator and old boy, Simon Pearsall. The Guest of Honour was surrounded all night by guests who were all keen to talk to the great man.

On Sunday, the festivities continued with a Family Fun Day on our top pitches. Alumni and their families along with current WHS families enjoyed an afternoon of ice creams, bouncy castles and a Cantoris performance in the glorious sunshine.  Current parent and former pupil Lucinda Bowen created a wonderful Birthday cake for Richard which was enjoyed by all.

A huge thank you to everyone who came to make the weekend so special for Richard.
