Setting sail with Mr Martin

On Thursday 14th March the Seligman children had a fascinating talk by our very own Mr James Martin.

The children were amazed and fully engaged in learning about how to navigate at sea. Mr Martin explained about past navigational tools and then brought us back to present day. What was most surprising was that they still use the tools that we have been learning about in our creative curriculum lessons.

Mr Martin handed out navigation tools for us all to examine. There was a sextant, a pair of compasses, a divider, a torch, a ruler and a slide ruler to calculate speed.

The children were very keen to also know about the types of boats Mr Martin had navigated and all the places he had travelled to.
