Textiles Workshop with Janine Pope

On Saturday 12th May 2007, Mr Hill organized for ten of the full boarders to have expert Designer Janine Pope come in to school and instruct the children in a textiles workshop.  We learned how to design clothes and what styles we should use.  Also how and when the clothes are distributed.  It was great fun and we learnt a lot of useful things. I loved textiles!  We had to decide on a theme, then we found things from magazines that matched our theme. Then we made a collage.  After that we experimented with tons of painting techniques.   Our collage was the best out of them all!  Well, we think so!  The others were also amazing.  I want to thank all the teachers involved, and a special thanks to Janine! I helped the girls in our team design a 'storyboard' for our own summer clothing.  We started by cutting out pictures from magazines, deciding on materials and doing our own art work.  G .Bell

The best part of the textiles weekend was choosing all the magazines and putting them into a collage.  I really liked the lady that came in to teach us because she showed us lots of different ways to use design skills. G.Polhill
