Boarding is at the heart of Winchester House.   The school’s heritage; its current structure and its ethos recognise the value of boarding in the development in each boy and girl as they progress through their prep school.    The confidence, the self-assurance, the independence that boarding builds in children provides them with important stepping stones into adolescence and adulthood.  The need to organise oneself within the routines of a boarding school is another fundamental lesson for life and this is learnt at Winchester House. The friendships made are life-long, and learning to get on with each other is all part of this experience.  Most important of all, boarding is fun and boys and girls board today, not out of necessity, but because they want to.
