‘SYMS’ The Society of Young Mathematicians’
For anyone interested in maths and developing it beyond the classroom, the ‘Mathematical Association’ [as above] has created the ‘Society of Young Mathematicians’ [SYMS]. There is an annual fee of £9.99, which entitles you to receive two journals three times a year. There is also a website www.syms.org.uk, with problems to solve, ideas to investigate and discussion boards on various matters and problems. The society is probably most relevant to children at Winchester House from Years 3 to 8 inclusive, but they say adults can join too! If anyone is interested in joining please go to the website, have a look and then follow the instructions on how to apply. Enjoy the problem solving!
