Circus Day

Circus Day

“Performers Without Borders (PWB) works towards giving disadvantaged children the opportunity to explore their potential. They understand that through teaching performance skills, an individual's learning, creativity and team working skills are developed. PWB envisages a world where all children are able to realise their full potential, and have an understanding of different cultures, the complexity of development issues and the importance of personal action”.

This is why we at Winchester House School held a circus skills fundraising day on Monday 14th September, to enable our children to have fun whilst helping less advantaged children in India to have the same opportunities of building their skills and confidence. PWB’s new team put on a fantastic show and then taught Years 5, 6 and 7 to do a number of circus skills including Juggling, Diablo, Hula Hooping, Contact Juggling, Human Pyramids, to use Poi and do Acro Balance.

The day was fantastic, with all children from Nursery to Year 8 having opportunity to watch and learn. It was great to see how much effort everyone put into their crazy costumes for the day, and how enthusiastically they all joined in with the show, the workshops and the show and tell at the end of the day. Thank you to all the parents who came to support in the evening and for all the teachers that helped out throughout the day. All the money raised will go towards providing circus equipment and skills training for street children in India.

I would like to send my heartfelt thanks to PWB and all of the people involved in running such a worthy charity. The PWB team head off to India in October on their intrepid adventure and they have promised us updates as they go. We wish them all the very best. Miss Emma Braund

Following the success of the Performers Without Borders visit to Winchester House School, we are pleased to announce that we have managed to raise a staggering £2000 which is a fantastic amount that will do so much good for the less privileged and street children of India. Thanks again for the support of all the friends and families of Winchester House children that took part in the day’s events. We will post updates from India as and when they come in.  See below
