Year 4 visited the Waste Education Centre in Northampton on Thursday 17th March as part of their Environmental Studies work on the 3 R’s – Reduce, Reuse, Recycle.
This is what some of the children thought of the trip:
Harry said "I thought it was really fun and I found out some really interesting facts but I didn't like the smell!"
Poppy said "It was very interesting how the black wires could go up through the ceiling and attach to the bales while they were still being squashed."
The most important thing they learnt from the trip was that the awful smell the workers have to spend all day with was caused by people not rinsing out the recycling before putting it in the bin. The class came up with a slogan
“Think, Rinse, Recycle!” to help you remember.
