Ted Dewan Visit

Ted Dewan (past winner of the Blue Peter illustration award) visited Winchester House school on Thursday 6th March as part of our World Book Day celebrations.
How to draw Crispin the Pig

All children in years 2 – 7 had a chance to listen to Ted Dewan and a small number were selected for the chance to interview him formally over lunch. Ted was a great hit with the children in all parts of the school and only escaped from the school grounds with difficulty at 6.45 that evening, so keen were so many children of all ages to speak to him individually.

The question and answer sessions at the end of his talks were remarkable for the range and quality of points raised by the children who were eager to know, amongst many other things, why Crispin’s clothes were always too big and his laces always undone, why the lines were never straight, what techniques were used to produce the drawings. Overall the day was a great success and many children were observed in the days that followed sketching pigs and borrowing materials from the art department. Long may the enthusiasm continue!
