Yr 3 & 4 Showcase

The Year 3 and 4 Showcase

On the evening of Friday 18th March, the children in Year 3 and 4 presented a Showcase to their parents, grandparents, brothers and sisters.

The evening started with an energetic and skilful performance by the junior members of The WHS Karate Club.

This was followed by a wonderful clown dance, performed by five girls in year 4.

The 5 winners of the Y3 and 4 categories of the Music Competition confidently played or sang their winning pieces and the winner of the Y4 Poetry Recital, did a great performance of his poem, ‘Magic Shoes’.

The children in Year 3 enlightened us all with several interesting (and often rather gory!) facts about the Ancient Egyptians and did a brilliant ‘Mummy Rap’.

This was followed by Year 4’s presentation about the Romans. They told us about Roman road-building, slave and soldiers with great self-assurance.

As the Showcase coincided with Red Nose Day, the performance finished with all the children singing the ‘Red Nose Song’. The audience enthusiastically joined in the finale – a fantastic end to a wonderful evening.

There was a retiring collection in aid of Red Nose Day – the sum of £465.75 was raised. Grateful thanks to the generosity of members of the audience who contributed to this amount.

The Seligman children and staff would like to thank all the people who gave their time to help make the evening such a success; Mrs. Chatfield and Mr. Phillips (music), Mr. Robinson (lighting), Mrs. Essame (dancing) and Sensei Calver and Mrs. Keating (Karate)
