Year 4 visit to the Natural History and Pitt Rivers Museums, Oxford
On the afternoon of Monday 9thMay, after a lovely picnic lunch in the Seligman playground, Year 4 went to Oxford to visit the Natural History and Pitt Rivers Museums. Mrs. Kennedy, Mrs. Duncan and Miss Muir came with us too.
We split into tutor groups. Mrs. Patey’s group began with a workshop about dinosaur trapping. Mrs. Lomax’s group walked through the Natural History Museum, past all the huge dinosaur skeletons, and into the Pitt Rivers Museum. Here, the children were given the task of finding 10 of the most interesting items in the museum. There were lots of strange and wonderful things to see.
Then we had a quick look at some of the amazing things in the Natural History Museum before we swapped with Mrs. Patey’s group. The dinosaur trapping workshop was great – one or two children thought they really were going to be transported back in time! We found out lots of fascinating facts about dinosaurs and finished the session by designing and making our own dinosaur trap. We had a fantastic time.
