Fifth Anniversary Celebrations
Thanks to everyone who came along to watch the balloon releases on Pre-Prep Sports Day and Upper School Sports Day, and who shared a glass of Pimm’s with us. The winning balloons made it to the Netherlands (491 miles!) and to Lincolnshire (112 miles) – congratulations to Tabitha Watkins (Year 1) and Phoebe Burch (Year 7).
Extravaganza
Earlier this week we were delighted to see the Upper School Extravaganza sparkling under the summer sun. Cheerful children dashed between volleyball and football; gladiator fighting, and golf; bouncy castles and boules; sumo wrestling and space hopper racing; swimming and show-jumping. Nails and faces were painted; bean bags and quoits were thrown; and hungry mouths made short work of donuts-on-a-string before tucking into a picnic tea and ice-creams. Warmest thanks to all the staff and parents who helped to organise and run a very jolly afternoon.
Committee and Form Reps
This week we also said goodbye to the outgoing Form Reps and welcomed in the new ones for next year. The Hippos rely very much on the good offices of the Form Reps and are very grateful to all those who have done their bit this year. Additionally we said fond farewells to Jo Clarke, Maggie Honey and Amelia Woodward who have all contributed generously during their time on the Committee. Details of the new Form Reps and Committee members will be circulated early next term.
And it’s goodbye from……
….me, as Caroline Grayson now takes over the chairmanship of the Hippos.
I’ve had great fun being part of the Hippos and am enduringly grateful to everyone who has supported the work of the Friends over its first five years. Extra special thanks to my lovely fellow committee members and best wishes to Caroline and the Committee for next year.
Enjoy the holidays!
