IAPS National Netball Champions 2010
The 1st team travelled to Brighton to play in the IAPS Netball Finals with an unbeaten season under their belts. After winning their regional tournament at High Wycombe, they qualified for the finals for a second year in succession. The finals tournament is held at Roedean and is a very impressive affair with 12 courts overlooking the sea. Overall over 3500 girls took part in this netball event and the regional rounds around the country.
After losing the first match in the tournament against Dumpton the girls played some superb netball to reach the final against Dumpton again, giving a déjà vu feeling from the very first match. Again, some superb netball was played and at the end of the 12 minutes the final score was 10-10. This put us into extra time, after a heart stopping 3 minutes the final score was 2-1 to Winchester House. This made them IAPS National Netball Champions 2010.
The U12 team were runners up in the regional round and qualified for the finals at Roedean. After some tough games we eventually finished in 5th place in our section. This was an invaluable experience and gives the girls something to aim for next year.
Many thanks to all the parents and fellow pupils who supported and cheered throughout the day. Also the behaviour of the Winchester House girls was impeccable and a credit to the school.
Another well done to both teams!
