IAPS Netball Finals 2008
Winchester House Netball success at reaching IAPS finals.
After a very successful qualification through to the IAPS Finals on the 7th March 2008, the 1st’s and U12’s spent the following week training each breaktime and games lesson. The finals took place at Roedean School, Brighton on Saturday 15th March. Due to the fact that it was an early start we all travelled down to Brighton on the Friday afternoon. The journey down was excellent and we had a brisk walk along the sea front in Rottingdean. We were hosted by a local Prep school, St Aubyns, who allowed us to use their Netball courts for a practice. That evening both squads had supper at a local Italian restaurant, fuelling up on pasta and pizza ready for the next day.

After a good breakfast we travelled the 3 miles to Roedean. This was a rather daunting sight, a huge grey building overlooking the sea. Matches started promptly at 10am and both the staff and pupils were pleased to see so many supporters had travelled all the way from Brackley to cheer on the girls. As to be expected the standard of the teams at the finals was of an incredibly high standard. Nevertheless, both teams played well and the U12 almost qualified for the semi finals.
All in all this was a fantastic achievement for both the girls and the school, Miss Jones and Miss Willoughby were very proud of the girls behaviour and success.
