Winchester House swimmers were lucky enough to be invited to the first public event held in Uppingham School’s magnificent new sports centre. Competing with four other schools in a gala much excitement was had by all. Expertly marshalled by Mrs Keating our team produced some excellent swims with wins in individual races for J. Alley in the U13 boys Individual Medley and the Butterfly, and for Ben Wirth in the U13 freestyle. S. Sweetnam headed the field in the girls butterfly whilst F. Brook, competing with boys two years older, was a magnificent winner in the junior boys backstroke.

All the pupils, some very apprehensive before the event began, really enjoyed their day and represented Winchester House with great enthusiasm. The sight of the senior boys relay team chasing hard to gain second place overall in the competition gave all the other swimmers something to aspire to.
