The Boarding Community
At Winchester House we strive to ensure our boarders are safe, happy and getting the most from all their day to day activities – and we like to also have lots of fun along the way!

A child’s boarding journey is designed with their enjoyment, development and the very best preparation for senior school in mind.

In each of our boarding houses we have a talented and committed team of houseparents, assistant houseparents, tutors and ‘gap year staff’ all focused on the happiness and welfare of the children and on creating a genuine home-from-home. We follow the core values of the school and, as a boarding community, are able to add further emphasis on:

  • Kindness
  • Responsibility
  • Fairness
  • Courtesy
  • Honesty

When the academic day is done, we make sure that the children have time to deepen relationships with friends, relax and have fun through our broad activity programme and inter-house competitions. For enhanced weekly boarding, the weekend is worth staying in school for! At ‘Opt In Weekends’ there are special themed events, discos, games, competitions, all sorts of outings (including shopping trips!) and opportunities to do something different. This is all a vital part of our ultimate aim to prepare children to make the most of boarding at their senior schools. The aims of boarding can be found in full here.
