The whole Upper School is supervised from 8.15am. Children whose parents need to drop them earlier join the boarders for breakfast in one of the dining rooms.

Registration is at 8.30am for all year groups. There are half hour breaks for all mid-morning and mid-afternoon and an hour's break for lunch in the middle of the day. Chapel is held weekly on a Thursday and children attend once every three weeks on a rota as the Chapel itself is not large enough to accommodate the whole school at once. Assemblies take place twice a week on Mondays and Saturdays where guests are frequently invited to speak to the children.

The school week is long to accommodate plenty of sport and a wide range of other activities but we recognise that younger children need to build up stamina gradually. Arrangements for Years 3 and 4 are therefore slightly different from the rest of the Upper School.

Year 3 & 4 (aged 7-9)

From Year 3 & 4, we gradually introduce children to a longer school week.

The standard day finishes at 5pm on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays. There is a further option for children to stay for activities and tea until 6.30pm (included in the fees). Wednesday school finishes at 4.30pm unless children are involved in matches, for which collection times are published separately. There is no Saturday school.

Years 5-8 (aged 9-13)

The standard school day finishes at 6.30 pm on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays after activities and tea although an early 5pm pick up is available (in which case activities and tea are not done at school). Wednesdays finish at 4.30pm and Saturdays at 12.50pm*, unless children are involved in matches, for which collection times are published separately.

*Please note, we have recently launched our vision for Winchester House 2020. The most significant development is that from September 2019 there will no longer be academic lessons on a Saturday. Please click here for further details.
