An exciting Boarding experience awaits at Winchester House School.

Both our Boarding Houses are within our school site in the market town of Brackley. We are a traditional town boarding school with a country feel, thanks to our expansive outdoor spaces (including an astroturf, sports fields and Secret Garden).

Boarding is at the heart of our culture here at Winchester House, and we nurture a real sense of family. Comfortable dorms, ‘live-in’ Houseparents available 24 hours a day and extensive shared social spaces, make Winchester House a real ‘home from home’ where friends are made for life

The boarding house at Winchester House School in Northamptonshire provides a nurturing home-away-from-home for pupils.

Our location, on the Buckinghamshire, Oxfordshire and Northamptonshire borders, provides the perfect platform for evening activities, with recent trips including a visit to Ninja Warrior UK in Milton Keynes and the Waterside Theatre in Aylesbury.

Children can board from Year 3 and we have day, flexi and weekly boarding options available to suit the needs of busy, modern lifestyles. Day Pupils have often become Boarders as they progress through the school as excellent preparation for boarding at Senior School (and also because of how much fun they have too!).

Leavers' Destination

We have two Boarding Houses, each designed to create a safe, comfortable and exciting home for our pupils whilst they are staying with us. 

The Boys’ Boarding House is located on the first floor of the Main House, while Drayton House is home to our girls.

Both houses provide plenty of space to relax and have fun. With common rooms, games rooms and snugs, there’s always a spot to unwind after a busy day. Pupils can enjoy air hockey, table football and table tennis, or dive into books and computer games during their downtime. Each house also has its own kitchen for snacks, drinks and shared meals. 

At bedtime, our dorms are spacious and comfortable, allowing a really good night’s sleep and rest for the day ahead. Sleeping areas can be personalised with photos, teddies and posters – in fact, we encourage it! 

In the evenings there’s plenty of time to relax and simply be with their friends, while games, activities and movie nights are organised across the week. The extensive activity programme, inter-house competition and in-house tournaments are great ways to let off steam while table football, air hockey, pool and quieter board games are also available.

Pupils board with us from Monday morning until Friday night.

For those families that need flexibility to board as and when required.

Occasional Boarding

Those who would like to stay in the boarding house on a regular boarding night, or nights, each week.

Trial Nights

For those wondering what boarding is like and want to give it a go, our trial boarding nights are an ideal way to experience what life as a Boarder at Winchester House is like.

Our location in Northamptonshire

The Boarding Houses are located in school grounds in the market town of Brackley, Northamptonshire.

We have children board with us from across the UK, including regions and areas such as Buckinghamshire, Oxfordshire, Northamptonshire, Warwickshire, the cotswolds and London.

Our handy location makes us a convenient option for many families, with easy access to the A43, M40, M1 and A5.
We are also near Kings Sutton, Banbury and Bicester train stations (journey of around 1 hour into London).
