French is taught formally from Reception to Year 8. French is currently offered at Level 2 (Higher level) for Common Entrance 13+ and at Scholarship Level (depending on the destination school).
Throughout the year, events and activities are held to further promote learning both the language and culture of the French speaking world; Year 5 and Year 6 pupils attend a French Theatre production, Year 8 pupils attend a French production hosted by Stowe and Year 7 have an invitation to take part in the Festive Showcase for MFL at Stowe.
The excursion programme held every Summer Term enables Reception, Year 1, Year 2, Year 3 and Year 4 children to have French language activities outside and beyond curriculum time. These activities include traditional French playground games (boules, le facteur, le jeu du beret…) as well as presentations on Bastille Day and Traditional festivals for Years 5 and 6.
