da Vinci Decathlon 2026

We would like to invite you to take part in the Internationally renowned da Vinci Decathlon. Stowe School will be hosting the event for the first time on Monday

9 March 2026. The day promises to be full of exhilarating challenges for your most able pupils.

The da Vinci Decathlon started in 2002 as an exciting offshoot of the very successful da Vinci Program for gifted and talented pupils at Knox Grammar School, Sydney. The Decathlon is designed to celebrate the academic achievements of pupils by providing a stimulating and challenging competition run in the spirit of an Olympic Decathlon.

Leonardo da Vinci (1452-1519) was one of the world’s greatest thinkers and scholars. da Vinci demonstrated an ability to perceive the interconnected nature of knowledge and embraced learning with a lifelong passion and determination to uncover the unknown. The Decathlon competition places a particular emphasis on higher order thinking skills, problem solving and creativity.

Each team will compete across 10 disciplines: Engineering, Mathematics, Code Breaking, Art and Poetry, Science, English, Ideation, Creative Producers, Cartography and Legacy. At the end of the competition the winning team from each round will be announced, and the overall winning team will be invited to attend the International Finals in Oxford in September 2026.

Schools can enter teams for the Junior team (year 7 and 8) or a Senior team (year 9 and 10). Each team can have up to 8 pupils. The day will begin at 9.00am and finish at approximately 4.30pm. Schools are asked to provide their own packed lunches with water bottles for their pupils and staff. Tea and coffee will be available for accompanying staff throughout the day.

The theme for the da Vinci Decathlon 2026 is Turning Points.
