Bradshaw Endowment

16th December 2022
Winchester House is delighted to announce a very kind and extraordinary donation from Patrick and Hennie Bradshaw. Patrick and Hennie have seen four sons come through Winchester House and have had a 20-year relationship with the School. We are delighted that the relationship will continue through a donation, the interest from which will provide an income to support Change 100 bursaries at Winchester House.
Providing life-changing educational opportunities at Winchester House is hugely important to us all and whilst we are already providing some support, we are delighted that this donation enables us to grow this provision further.
Patrick and Hennie commented, “It is a joy to be able to cement a place at the school we have adored for so long to children who might not otherwise be able to attend. Our boys are delighted to embrace this and we all wish the pupils who take up this opportunity every success and happiness in their time at Winchester House and beyond.”
To recognise this wonderful act of philanthropy, the Pre-School and Nursery Building has been renamed, The Bradshaw Building. Naming this building will enable us to further integrate it as part of the Winchester House campus and children will be able to move from ‘Bradshaw’ to ‘Seligman’ as they progress through the younger years of the School and move towards joining Manor House. Winchester House is thrilled that the renaming of the Pre-School will incorporate our youngest children further into the School and we cannot think of a better name to be associated with Winchester House and bursaries than that of the Bradshaw family. As well as being parents of four Housians, Patrick has also been a Governor of Winchester House and is now a Governor of The Stowe Group. The School is hugely grateful for the support and enthusiasm the family has shown for the School over the years.
We hope that this marks the start of further support from throughout our community to ensure that Winchester House can provide more funding for children, whose families would never otherwise be able to afford the fees but for whom the opportunity of a Winchester House education could be transformative. Providing opportunities for children who could potentially benefit enormously from a Winchester House education has never been more important and not only will bursaries benefit those individual children, but they will also benefit the wider school cohort as a whole. As part of Change 100, bursaries at Winchester House work in conjunction with Stowe too, ensuring many years of fully-funded education. Importantly, experience demonstrates that children benefit most from bursaries when they start at a younger age and by providing Change 100 places at Winchester House we are enabling the best possible outcomes from the Change 100 bursary programme.
“On behalf of the entire Winchester House community I want to say a massive and heartfelt ‘Thank you’ to Patrick and Hennie – as well as to Henry, Benjie, Toby and Bruno. Winchester House is full of love and enthusiasm for the potential of all of its pupils, and I am thrilled that those attributes will now be more widely accessible.”
