U13 WHS Hockey Team – IAPS Finals at Wellington College
On Friday 21st November, WHS U13 Hockey Team attended the U13 IAPS Finals at Wellington College. This is a huge achievement, and as a squad they have now become part of Winchester
House history as one of the small number of teams to represent the school at this level.
We had a tough group, facing Bromsgrove, Millfield (the eventual winners), and Wellington College (the hosts). Going into our final group game against Wellington, we were level on points and goal difference, meaning the result would decide who progressed to the Cup and who went into the Plate.
It was a game of two halves, with Wellington taking the lead in the first. We then played some outstanding hockey in the second half, putting Wellington completely on the back foot, but unfortunately we couldn’t find the goal we needed to take the match to a shoot-out. This meant we entered the Plate competition, where we played well but couldn’t quite get the results we deserved, eventually finishing 4th overall.
Overall, it was a fantastic day, and the girls s
ould be incredibly proud of everything they have achieved.
