‘What Happened to YOU?’

Year 1 learning about people with limb differences

Last term, Year 1 have been learning about people with limb differences. We read ‘What Happened to YOU?’ by James Catchpole and talked about all the things that Joe could do, celebrating Joe’s resilience with just one leg. Children loved watching and learning about Paralympians like Jonnie Peacock, and Richard Whitehead  inspired us too.

From learning about the structure of prosthetic legs and how they have changed over time to crafting our own life size prosthetic legs with the help from Mr Scouse. Our DT sessions were a blast! After some testing (and fixing!), we took it in turns to walk around the Quad with our creations was the highlight of it all!

Winchester House is a co-educational day and boarding independent prep school in Northamptonshire, near the Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire borders, for children from nursery (age 3) to year 8 (age 13).
