Nursery

From the term the child turns three, children can join our Nursery. 

Children in our Nursery learn through play and creativity, which helps their confidence, self-esteem and independence flourish.

Our carefully crafted Nursery room in the pre-prep Bradshaw building is designed to spark curiosity and ignite a love for learning from the earliest years. Pupils have continuous access to the outdoors, offering opportunities for outdoor exploration, we integrate the latest digital technology into our learning approach, including iPads, there are breakout spaces for collaborative activities and also tranquil nap time spaces. Our nursery class also has access to facilities across the school and The Stowe Group as required.

Supported by our highly qualified and experienced Early Years staff, children explore, investigate, observe and discover through a rich and varied curriculum based on the seven strands of learning identified in the Early Years Foundation Stage Framework (EYFS) which develops firm foundations for learning

The prime areas are:

  • Personal, Social and Emotional Development
  • Physical Development
  • Communication and Language

These are the central focus of learning in Nursery, supported by the specific areas of Mathematics, Literacy, Expressive Arts and Design and Understanding the World.

Children learn through play and creativity which enables their confidence, self-esteem and independence to flourishThey have plentiful opportunities to engage in outdoor activities such as den making, exploration of natural materials in the ‘mud kitchen’, scavenger hunts, bug hunting and toasting marshmallows over an open fire in regular ‘Going Wild’ sessions

Specialist teaching in PE and Music is introduced in Nursery.
