ICT is taught within the curriculum subjects up to Year 4 and then as a specialist subject for Year 5 onwards.
Core learning focuses on providing pupils with a ‘digital pencil case’, meaning the skills required to access and take advantage of digital learning tools and resources. Pupils use a variety of platforms on their journey through Winchester House: iOS in Early Years and KS1, Google Classrooms in Years 3 & 4 and Microsoft Teams in Years 5 to 8 which is the preferred system for all the schools that our pupils have moved onto in the last three years, thus enabling a seamless technological transition into senior school.
Computer Science is the second strand of learning in the ICT curriculum, which includes coding, design and control. This is delivered in the form of STEM projects that require the use of both computer science and ICT skills to solve a problem or create a product a real or virtual product.
