Year 3 and 4 at Winchester House is taught in the Seligman building. It’s a busy, close-knit group, that provides an extension from Bradshaw ( Pre-Prep) as pupils enjoy a gradual transition to Upper School.

Pupils work in tutor groups for most of their subjects, but start to have specialist teachers for certain subjects, such as Science, Art, D&T and Drama. PE, French and Music continue to be taught by subject specialists.

We provide a nurturing environment where pupil talents flourish. Our approach to teaching, grounded in the Creative Curriculum, ignites our pupils’ passion for subjects such as History and Geography, immersing pupils in a world of knowledge and exploration.

Core subjects like Mathematics, English, PSHE, and Creative Learning are taught together, promoting collaboration and shared growth.

At Winchester House, we believe in the power of experiential learning. Each term, Seligman pupils take part in engaging trips that enrich our Creative Curriculum. For example, pupils recently visited Holdenby House as part of their World War II topic.

Pupils are also encouraged to take part in public speaking. Starting from Year 3, our pupils engage in presentations for their peers, sharing their interests, whether it’s about their pets, exciting holidays, hobbies, or favourite foods. This helps builds their confidence, but also nurtures their individuality, empowering them to express themselves.
